Stoneware Butter Keeper

This traditional butter keeper, or butter bell, lets you store butter safely, without refrigeration, for up to 30 days. It ensures that your butter is always soft and spreadable, yet still fresh. Put a full stick of butter into the lid, or bell, then add 1/2" of water to the base. When you invert the bell, the water will cover the top of the butter, acting as a seal, keeping air away from the butter. Contact with oxygen is what makes butter rancid, so the French butter "bell" keeps butter perfectly fresh, while keeping it soft. For best results, keep the butter keeper in a cool location out of sunlight. This classic butter keeper is made of rugged stoneware that's dishwasher safe and measures 3.5" in diameter and 4" tall.
